The John Paul II boys basketball team played its best half of the season before visiting Memorial Day pulled away for a 62-44 win Monday.
The Matadors beat the Golden Warriors by 23 points last week, but JPII was within 23-22 at halftime in the rematch and it was a five-point game early in the fourth quarter.
Rashad Battiste and Amere Cherry led the Golden Warriors with 16 points each.
JPII (2-4) hosts SCISA 3A power Pinewood Prep on Wednesday.
