Avern Montaque collected 17 points and nine rebounds in his Hilton Head Prep debut to help the Dolphins open their season with a 61-57 win over Savannah Christian Prep on Wednesday.
The Raiders came out hot and hit seven 3-pointers in the first half, leading by as much as 11 before the Dolphins fought back within 35-29 at halftime and outscored SCPS 32-22 in the second half.
Tyrone Calloway hit three 3-pointers en route to 14 points and Haddith Stewart also scored 14 for the Dolphins, while Ian Plummer had nine points and four rebounds and Tyler Rice finished with seven points and nine boards.
HHP (1-0) travels to face Coastal Homeschool on Thursday.
