Bluffton’s Moreno Wins Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series Title

Bluffton’s Yorlliry “George” Moreno finished off a wire-to-wire win in the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series on Sunday morning, cruising to a third-place finish in the final event of the five-race series to claim the overall title.

Moreno, a professional triathlete who used the sprint races as part of his Ironman training, built a 22 second lead with a blazing time of 7:27 in the 600-yard swim and was still in front of the pack after the 12-mile bike.

The 26-year-old Moreno coasted to a time of 20:13 in the 5K to slip to third, as Miles Fowler won the race in 56:53, holding off Wesley Mather by 21 seconds.
