Hilton Head Island’s Will Miles shot 2-over-par 74 in Saturday’s final round and finished seventh at the 111th Southern Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.
Miles began the day tied for third and one shot off the lead, and he remained in contention for much of the final round before two players pulled away from the field. Australia’s Karl Vilips finished at 15-under to edge Stoney Crouch by one shot, while Miles finished the 72-hole event 8-under.
Bluffton’s Bryson Nimmer shot 3-over 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 27th.
