HHI’s Miles Sits Fourth After 36 Holes At Southern Amateur

Hilton Head Island’s Will Miles followed up a first-round 69 with a 6-under-par 66 in Thursday’s second round and is in fourth place after the second round of the 111th Southern Amateur Championship being played in Pinehurst, N.C.

Miles, a standout at the University of South Carolina, made seven birdies and one bogey on the Dogwood Course at the Country Club of North Carolina on Thursday, posting the best round of the day.

Bluffton’s Bryson Nimmer, fresh off a runner-up finish at last weekend’s Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall, shot 71 in the first round and even-par 72 on Thursday and is tied for 42nd.

The 168-player field was cut to 71 players following Thursday’s round. The tournament continues with the third of four rounds Friday.
