Bluffton American Wins In Walk-Off, Hilton Head Falls In Dixie State Tourney Openers

Local teams went 1-1 on the opening day of Dixie Youth Baseball state tournaments Saturday in Hartsville.

The Bluffton American all-stars used a great pitching performance to pull off a 4-3 walk-off win in extra innings in their opener against Sumter National in the AAA tournament. Bluffton will face Union National in the second round at 5 p.m. Sunday.

In the O-Zone tournament, Hilton Head lost its opening contest, 6-0 to Clinton, and will face Pawleys Island in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
