Bluffton teams continued their strong showings in Dixie Youth Baseball and Dixie Softball district play Monday night.
The Bluffton American all-stars remained undefeated in both the Minors (age 9-10) and AA Machine Pitch (age 7-8) tournaments, while the Bluffton Darlings softball team and the Bluffton O-Zone all-stars won the opening games of their tournaments.
In the Minors tournament at Crossings Park on Hilton Head Island, Bluffton American defeated Colleton County 10-5 and is the only undefeated team left in the bracket. They will face Hilton Head at 8 p.m. tonight in the semifinals. In the other semifinal, Bluffton National will take on Colleton County at 6 p.m. after beating Hampton 10-1 in an elimination game Monday.
In the AA Machine Pitch tournament in Walterboro, Bluffton American defeated Hilton Head 12-2 on Monday to advance to the semifinals as the lone undefeated team. Bluffton National dropped an elimination game 14-7 to Beaufort.
Bluffton opened the O-Zone (age 11-12) tournament at Crossings Park with a 19-14 win over Beaufort and will face Hilton Head at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Bluffton Darlings (age 9-10) softball all-stars won 5-2 in the opener of their best-of-3 series against Goose Creek. The teams will play again Wednesday in Walterboro with Bluffton needing one win to advance to the state tournament.
