The Beaufort County contingent was eliminated from the Carolinas Golf Association’s 45th S.C. Amateur Match Play Championship on Saturday at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg.
Hilton Head Island residents Nick Russell and Andrew Orischak lost their quarterfinal matches Saturday morning, ending a strong showing by local players.
Russell dropped his match 4-and-3 to Brady Hinkle of Lancaster, while Orischak lost 6-and-4 to former Hilton Head Island High School teacher Todd White of Spartanburg.
White went on to defeat Hinkle 4-and-3 to advance to the final, where he will face Julian Keur of Summerville at 8 a.m. Sunday.
