SCISA Region 1-1A took its best swing at Thomas Heyward, but the Rebels still reign.
Thomas Heyward all but assured itself of another region title Friday, routing top challenger St. John’s Christian 34-7 in Ridgeland. The Rebels’ only remaining regular-season games are against Bethesda Academy and Greenwood Christian, the teams at the bottom of the region standings, and should simply be tune-ups for a run at a fourth straight SCISA 1A title.

THA certainly looked ready on Friday.
Even down to their third quarterback, the Rebels ran the ball at will behind a strong offensive line, as Anthony Fripp led the way with 164 yards on 20 carries and Tony O’Banner added 84 yards and two touchdowns on 19 attempts.
Tyshon Mansell was solid in his debut as the starting quarterback, going 5-of-8 for 99 yards with two TDs and an interception and connecting with Cutter Williams and Cody Parker for touchdowns. Mansell played quarterback in place of Brandon Howard, who is nursing a rib injury but added a 5-yard TD run and an interception. James Townsend and Parker also had picks for the Rebels.
THA (7-1, 3-0) travels to Bethesda Academy next Friday.
