HSVB: HHCA holds off Hornets for tough road win in opener

Hilton Head Christian Academy volleyball opened its season with an impressive 3-1 win at Savannah Country Day, taking down a tough opponent on the road in a hard-fought match.

The Eagles sailed to a 25-13 win in the first set before grinding out a 25-20 victory to go up two. The Hornets clawed back to win the third set 25-17, but HHCA bounced back to close it out with a 25-16 victory.

HHCA setter Amelia Auld had a big night, dishing out 35 assists to go with seven aces. Her favorite target was Abby Peduzzi, who racked up 14 kills and 12 digs, while Marissa Majorkiewicz added eight kills and five aces. 

The Eagles’ defense came up big with Ella Klepchick leading the way with 13 digs and Kenzie Buchter coming up with three solo blocks on the front row.

HHCA (1-0) travels to Effingham County on Tuesday for a tri-match with Calvary Day.
