HSBBB: Bobcats come up short at Aiken

Bluffton’s boys put up a strong fight on the road Wednesday, but their rally came up short and their season ended with a 46-41 loss to Aiken in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

A trio of seniors led the Bobcats in their final game, as Lee Kirkland scored 10 points, Tyler Rice added nine, and Jatelvayn Mosley had eight.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 13-9 lead after one quarter, but their offense went stagnant in the second quarter and they were outscored 16-4 by the Hornets. Bluffton (12-12) stayed within reach throughout the second half and closed within four in the final minute but couldn’t close the gap.

“We fought hard and almost got ‘em,” Bluffton coach Michael Tew said. “The second quarter got us.”
