The Eagles’ Nest was taken over by the Seahawks on Friday, as visiting Hilton Head High’s boys spoiled Beaufort High’s homecoming game with a 79-70 road win in a key Region 7-4A contest.
The game was fast-paced throughout, with each team putting together runs to seemingly take control.
The Seahawks started to claim the momentum early in the second quarter, but the Eagles clawed back. The Seahawks continued to score off fast breaks and good ball movement, though, and HHIHS led 39-33 at halftime.
The Eagles tried to fight back in the third quarter, but the Seahawks kept knocking down shots and extended the margin to 11 after three quarters. Hilton Head High’s lead climbed to 16 early in the fourth, but the Eagles pulled back within single digits before their comeback fell short.
Dean Seelbach led the Seahawks with 19 points, and Alex Smith added 15. Jamaad Rivers scored 26 points to lead the Eagles, and Zyrin Odom added 14 points.
