May River’s girls golf team finished strong to move up two spots and finish fifth at the Class 3A state meet Tuesday.
The Sharks were in seventh place after a first-round score of 363 on Monday, but their 360 in Tuesday’s final round at Carolina Springs Golf Club was the fifth-best score of the day.
Sydney Bowes (83-83) led the Sharks with a 20th-place finish, while Kylie Bowes (90-85) and Hannah Harris (87-88) tied for 24th.
Oceanside Collegiate (630) won the team title by 58 shots over runner-up Bishop England (688).
