Essence Champion drove in five runs and hit one of Beaufort High’s seven home runs as the Eagles routed Hilton Head High 23-3 in Region 8-4A softball action Wednesday.
Champion was 3-for-3 with a triple, a homer, four runs, and five RBIs to lead the Eagles’ 16-hit attack. Kidron Martin was 2-for-3 with two homers, and Lillian Bearden, Shaley Gooding, Bricen Riley, and Madison Sanchez also homered.
Emily Cook, Bearden, and Carleigh Coolong combined on a one-hitter for the Eagles.
Beaufort (2-5) hosts Bluffton at 7 p.m. Thursday. Hilton Head High hosts Berkeley at 7 p.m. Friday.
