HSFB ’24: Lowco First Down (Week 0)

It was a light slate in the Lowco, but Week 0 of the 2024 high school football season is in the books, and we’ve got all the details right here in Lowco First Down.

Colleton Prep 16, John Paul II 6

Cale Owens hooked up with Perry Corbett for a touchdown pass, Walker Bryan broke off a touchdown runs to break up a defensive struggle, and Connor Nettles booted a fourth-quarter field goal for the only scoring of the second half, as the War Hawks were able to grind out a season-opening win at home. JPII struck first after Sebastian Slusne stripped away the ball on the opening series, leading to a Bryant Jolley touchdown run, but CPA’s defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way.

Up next: CPA (1-0) vs. St. John’s Christian (8/23)

Beaufort Academy 36, Hilton Head Prep 7

Dietrich Shuford scored two rushing TDs and added a 65-yard TD pass to Devin Fripp for BA, which is now 5-0 all-time against the Dolphins.
