May River continued its march through Region 7-4A with a 37-3 home win over Colleton County on Friday and celebrated a region title after Hilton Head High’s loss rendered next week’s game with the Seahawks moot to the final standings.
The Sharks didn’t show any hangover from last week’s emotional 24-21 win at Beaufort High, jumping out to an early lead against a Cougars team that had not allowed more than seven points in the first half this season.
Garvin Douglas had another huge night on the ground, as the Sharks’ senior quarterback rushed for four touchdowns (14, 3, 14, 35). Cam Scott added a 7-yard TD run for May River.
The Sharks (7-2, 4-0) have locked up the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and conclude the regular season at Hilton Head High next week. The Cougars (0-4, 0-4) host Beaufort High next week.
