The Jace Blackshear show went on the road Friday, as Hilton Head Christian Academy’s star quarterback opened the scoring with a long touchdown run and tossed TD passes to three different receivers to highlight the Eagles’ 49-7 win at Colleton Prep.
Blackshear started the scoring with a 68-yard scramble on fourth down and threw touchdown passes to Riley Shinn, Jackson Lanier, and Joseph Robinson to cap off another incredible night for the Eagles’ offense. Robinson also added a pair of touchdown runs, and backup quarterback James Crosby capped the scoring with a TD run.
HHCA’s defense turned in another dominant effort, as well, and Blackshear played a big role, picking off a pass and forcing a fumble to complement strong outings from nose guard Matthew Scarpa and the linebacking corps of Robinson, Lanier, and Keene Reese.
The Eagles jumped out to a 27-0 lead, as Blackshear followed his long touchdown run with a 28-yard TD pass to Shinn and a 35-yard strike to Lanier with a 2-yard TD run from Robinson sandwiched in between.
Drew Murdaugh got the War Hawks on the board with a 6-yard TD run before halftime, but HHCA clamped down in the second half, and Robinson scored on a 30-yard run and caught a TD pass from Blackshear before the senior quarterback handed the reins to Crosby, who capped the scoring with a TD run for the second straight game.
HHCA (4-0) hosts Pinewood Prep in a non-region game next Friday, while Colleton Prep (1-4) travels to Bethesda Academy for a region matchup.
