Thomas Heyward volleyball put up a solid fight but couldn’t keep pace with a strong Palmetto Christian squad in a 3-0 loss at home Thursday.
The Rebels fought hard in a back-and-forth first set before the Eagles prevailed 25-20, then missed serves and sluggish defense derailed THA in a 25-11 loss in the second set. THA rallied and started strong in the third set, taking an early three-point lead, but PCA rattled off six straight points and held on 25-19 to close it out.
Senior captain Keleigh Bowers had a team-high 15 digs to go with four kills for the Rebels, while Brooke Smith added nine digs, and Megan Bennett was perfect from the service line with three aces, two kills, and four digs.
THA (1-1) travels to Patrick Henry on Tuesday.
