HSBSB: Defense lets Dolphins down in opener

Hilton Head Prep baseball dropped its season opener Saturday, falling 6-3 to visiting Augusta Christian.

Reese Malon was tagged with the loss for the Dolphins, but his defense didn’t do him any favors. Malon was charged with five runs (two earned) on two hits over three innings with three strikeouts and three walks.

“Hard to pull off an upset when you give up four unearned runs on three errors,” HHP coach Chris Wells said. “We have to practice harder and play better moving forward.”

Tommy Stauffer, Tristan Bonomo, Malon, and Cooper Kunich each had one hit for the Dolphins.
