May River’s softball team routed visiting Academic Magnet 16-0 on Saturday to stay alive in the double-elimination Class 3A district playoffs.
Giovana Rodriguez allowed one hit over four innings and Kylee Gleason pitched a scoreless fifth to combine for the shutout.
Gleason was 4-for-4 with a homer, four runs, and three RBIs, Olivia Turpin was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs, and Hannah Manley was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs, and four RBIs to lead the Sharks at the plate.
May River (13-6) will travel to Cheraw on Monday for an elimination game.
