HSBBB: BA fights through slow start for win at Northwood

Beaufort Academy boys basketball passed a road test Thursday, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 49-35 win at Northwood Academy.

The Eagles were a bit sluggish in the first half and found themselves tied at 9 after one period before opening a 20-15 halftime advantage. The Chargers shot 25 free throws compared to BA’s five, keeping Northwood within 33-27 going to the fourth.

But Timmy Horgan splashed a pair of huge 3-pointers in the second half to snap the Eagles out of an early funk, Sully Gay scored a game-high 15 points, and freshman big man Amarion Wilson added 11 to lead BA to its 14th win in its last 15 games, including a pair of forfeits. Braydon Dineen added nine points for the Eagles.

BA (14-3) hosts St. John’s Christian Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.
