Hilton Head Prep finished second and May River placed sixth in a 15-team field of the Palmetto State’s top high school girls golf teams Saturday and Sunday at the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association’s Foundation High School Invitational at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence.
The Dolphins finished the 36-hole event with a strong team score of 62-over-par 638, placing a distance second behind Blythewood, which posted a 13-over 301 in the final round to finish at 33-over and win by 29 shots. May River’s team total of 671 was good for sixth, just three shots behind fifth-place Chapin.
May River’s Kylie Bowes and HHP’s Camila Burnett each shot 8-over 152 to tie for 10th, while HHP’s Bridget Wilkie (17th, 156) and May River’s Claire Green (T20, 157) also cracked the top 20. HHP’s Olivia Wilkie and May River’s Robbin Zetrouer tied for 37th at 163, while HHP’s Antonina Morgan (41st, 167) and May River’s Hailey Aipperspatch (64th, 199) rounded out their teams’ scoring.
