Jaslyn Joseph and Kadari Mitchell led the USCB indoor track & field team Friday at the Gamecock Opener in Columbia.
Joseph, a senior from Statesboro, Ga., hit the NAIA “B” Qualifying Standard in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 11.22 meters and placing third in a field that included numerous NCAA Division I athletes.
Mitchell, a sophomore from Savannah, posted a pair of top-10 finishes, placing ninth out of 111 runners in the men’s 60 meters (6.97 seconds) and finishing eighth among 46 runners in the 300 meters (35.91). Freshman teammate Narada Adams was right on Mitchell’s heels in the 300, placing ninth in 35.93.
The Sand Sharks return to action Jan. 26 at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
