Alexis Ortiz pitched another gem as Battery Creek advanced to the Class 3A District 6 championship round with an 11-0 win over Strom Thurmond on Saturday.
Ortiz followed up her no-hitter in the first round with a one-hit shutout of the Rebels, allowing only two baserunners while striking out 11. She also hit a two-run homer.
McKenzie Young was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, Emily Crosby was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Journeigh Doray and Jamiah Johnson each added two hits.
The Dolphins (16-8-1) will host either Loris or Strom Thurmond for the district championship on Wednesday.
