HS Baseball: Sharks Split 4 Games At Mingo Bay Classic

May River went 2-2 at the Mingo Bay Classic in its final tune-up before the Class 3A playoffs. 

The Sharks opened the tournament with a 10-0 loss to Ronald Reagan (N.C.) and a 9-3 loss to Blue Ridge before closing out the week with a 12-1 win over Carolina Forest and a 9-0 victory over Forest Park (Va.).

Kamryn Gleason earned the win against Carolina Forest, allowing one unearned run and two hits over six innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Cooper George and Josh Patterson each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Gleason, John Pesaturo, and Jack Hegan each added two hits.

Elijah Peter threw a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and three walks in the win over Forest Park. Peter also went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Josh Patterson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and Gleason was 2-for-3 and scored three runs.  

The Sharks (13-9) will open the Class 3A District 8 tournament at home Tuesday.
