USCB Softball Improves To 4-0

USCB’s softball team picked up a pair of shutout wins Saturday, sweeping visiting Montreat (N.C.) 9-0 and 6-0.

The Sand Sharks erupted for eight runs in the third inning of game 1, providing plenty of support for Canyon Crosby, who allowed three hits over four scoreless frames and hit a three-run homer. Sloan Ducey struck out two in a scoreless fifth, and Shania Domingue had a two-run double.

Abby Pac pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win in the finale, with Katelyn Mangum (1 1/3 innings), Ducey (1 2/3) and Kinsey Sords (1 inning) combining to finish the shutout. Alexa Moore had a pair of RBI singles, Kayla Boyle was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Domingue and Rachel Frankhouser also drove in runs.

USCB (4-0) travels to St. Andrew’s (N.C.) for a doubleheader Saturday.
