HS Soccer: Beaufort High Girls Stage Comeback, Win In Shootout

Beaufort High’s girls won a thriller in their Class 4A playoff opener Monday, scoring two late goals to force overtime before claiming a shootout victory at St. James.

The Eagles trailed 2-1 at halftime and were down 4-2 with 22 minutes left in regulation, but Josephine Rohrer scored off an assist from Mia Collins and Caroline Louw punched in her own rebound to force extra time.

After 30 minutes of overtime periods, the Eagles beat the Sharks 5-4 in the shootout, as Louw, Ellie Muniz, Collins, Malia Kaneshege, and Jayne Trumps all converted their penalties and Olivia Crisologo made one pivotal save to give Beaufort the win.

The Eagles (9-6) travel to Dreher for a second-round match at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
