HS Soccer: JPII Girls Top Holy Trinity In Shootout

John Paul II girls’ soccer defeated Holy Trinity in a penalty shootout Wednesday to stay undefeated in region play.

Katie Leigh Floyd, Renee Delgado, and Merritt Woodham converted their penalty kicks in the shootout to lift the Golden Warriors to the win after the match was deadlocked at 1 following two overtime periods.

Holy Trinity’s Mills Langehans scored in the opening minute and maintained the 1-0 advantage until the 69th minute, when Floyd earned a foul just outside the 18-yard box and Brianna Riley chipped in her free kick for the equalizer.

JPII (4-3, 4-0) play at Ashley Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Holy Trinity (4-2, 2-1) hosts Beaufort Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
