Cooper George can add another championship to his growing baseball resumé.
The May River High School standout helped his travel team, the Dirtbags, claim the Perfect Game WWBA Freshman World Championship on Monday in West Palm Beach, Fla.
George, who starred for the Beaufort County team that won the Dixie Boys World Series in Bluffton last summer, went 8-for-16 with three doubles and six RBIs in the tournament, and he was the winning pitcher in the Dirtbags’ 6-5 win over Canes Black 2021 in the championship game. George came out of the bullpen to throw 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and seven hits with six strikeouts.
