Hoover (Ala.) 2, Bluffton 0 — After a late rally to force overtime and a shootout win over region rival Lucy Beckham on Friday night, the Bobcats didn’t have their legs early in Saturday’s matinee and the Alabama Class 7A Bucs scored twice in the first half and kept the clean sheet.
South Effingham 9, May River 3 — The Sharks held a 3-1 lead going to the bottom of the fifth, but they ran out of arms and the Rebels rallied to take the lead in the fifth and tacked on five more runs in the sixth.
Hilton Head High 15, Battery Creek 1 — UAB commit Christian Stratis went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and four runs and finished a double shy of the cycle to power the Seahawks to a lopsided win in five innings.
Ben Lippen 10, Hilton Head Prep 0 — The Dolphins didn’t put their best foot forward against a tough SCISA 3A opponent on the road, making five errors and managing only one hit in a five-inning defeat as Cory Arthur struck out 12 for the Falcons.

Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Region 7 meet — May River’s girls and Hilton Head High’s boys claimed the team titles at Whale Branch, while the Sharks and Bluffton High School were right behind the Seahawks in the tight boys standings and Beaufort High’s girls tied for second. May River’s Fareed Abdullah won the boys 100 and 200 for the second straight week, Sharks teammate Anya Arroyo won the girls 1600 and 3200, Whale Branch’s Xavier Chaplin claimed gold in the discus and shot put, and Beaufort’s Anaiya Houseal won the high jump and long jump to lead Lowco individual performances.
