HSGBB: Sharks stop Cougars, run region win streak to 3 (+📹)

May River’s girls ran off their third consecutive Region 7-4A win Friday, beating visiting Colleton County 46-22. 

The Sharks once again thrived on a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring, as nine players scored and eight had at least four points. May River built a 25-11 halftime lead and closed it out by shutting out the Cougars in the fourth quarter.

Morgan Kinlaw-Scott scored eight points, Charlotte Van den Heuvel and McKenna Swinton added seven each, and Ari Bevans and Morgan Kronimus each had five for the Sharks.

The Cougars stayed in it by feeding off their defense in the third quarter, turning steals into transition buckets to keep within striking distance. Freshman Shandi Brown scored eight points to lead Colleton, while freshman Heaven Green adn sophomore Makayla Chisolm added seven apiece.

The Sharks (6-3, 3-1) travel to James Island on Tuesday.

The Cougars (0-7, 0-4) travel to Lucy Beckham on Tuesday.
