HSBBB: Sharks stay hot, close out Cougars on Senior Night (+📹)

May River’s boys stayed hot at both ends of the floor in a 61-40 win over visiting Colleton County in Region 7-4A play Friday.

After lighting it up from 3-point range recently, the Sharks fed the post early against the Cougars, as Brady Harrell put up 17 points on Senior Night to lead the way for May River. Fellow seniors Steffin Gadson and Jakii Morrow added 10 and nine, and James Layman had eight for the Sharks.

May River raced out to an 11-0 lead, playing stifling defense and moving the ball effectively to produce open looks, including some easy buckets inside for Harrell off nice finds from Morrow.

Garvin Douglas lit a spark under the Sharks with a breakaway dunk, as May River build a 29-15 halftime lead when Gadson finished off an acrobatic reverse layup at the buzzer.

Silas Holmes scored 13 points, Brian Hamilton added eight, and Temaj Butler had seven for the Cougars, who tried to shoot their way back into it but couldn’t get many open looks against a disciplined May River defense.

The Sharks (4-4, 3-1) travel to James Island on Tuesday.

The Cougars (0-7, 0-4) travel to Lucy Beckham on Tuesday.
