HSBB: Patterson Named 3A Player of the Year, 3 Others Tabbed All-State

Bluffton High School senior Jermaine Patterson can add another award to his impressive list of accolades – he was named the Class 3A Boys Player of the Year by the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville junior Rashamel Butler joined Patterson on the Class 3A Boys All-State Team, while Ridgeland-Hardeeville’s Quanajia Drayton and Battery Creek’s Ta’Quasia Lampkin were named to the Class 3A Girls All-State Team.

Patterson entered Tuesday’s first-round playoff game at Manning averaging 27.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, five assists, and 3.7 steals for the Bobcats.

Butler is averaging 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists for the Jaguars, who were 20-1 and ranked second in the state entering Tuesday’s playoff game against Lake Marion.

Drayton has led the Jaguar girls to a 15-3 record and a No. 2 state ranking. Ridgeland-Hardeeville coasted through the first round of the playoffs on Monday and will host Strom Thurmond in Thursday’s second round.

Lampkin is averaging 13.1 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Dolphins, who are 18-5 and set for a second-round matchup at Swansea on Thursday.
