The Hilton Head Island High School girls tennis team went 2-2 against strong competition at the Bishop England Tournament over the weekend.
The Seahawks won their opening match 4-3 against Mauldin before falling to Oceanside Collegiate (6-0) and A.C. Flora (4-3). HHIHS then bounced back to win its final match, 4-2 over Summerville.
Danielle Silvan went 3-1 on the weekend at No. 5 singles to lead the Seahawks, while No. 1 Emily Ruckno and No. 2 Ariella Stepleman each went 2-2 in singles and teamed up to go 1-1 in doubles. No. 3 Sydney Hall and No. 4 Madeleine Pollitzer were 1-3 in singles play, and the No. 2 doubles team of Ashton Grant and Pilar Kayser went 1-3.
The Seahawks (7-2, 3-0 region) are back in action Tuesday, playing a Region 8-4A match at Berkeley at 4:30 p.m.
