Bluffton triathlete Yorlliry “George” Moreno claimed another overall victory in the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series on Sunday in James Island.
Moreno finished in 56:20 to hold off runner-up Nathan Buttrick by three seconds and has won each of the first three races in the five-race series.
The 26-year-old Moreno set the tone early with a time of 7:13 in the 600-meter swim, giving him a 42-second cushion over the next competitor.
A time of 28:46 in the 12-mile bike kept Moreno comfortably ahead of the pack, but Buttrick ran a 17:54 5K to put the pressure on and force Moreno to outsprint him to the finish.
The next race in the series is scheduled for July 30.
